*' Slovakia Update * Rudolf Schuster, mayor of regional town Kosice, has been elected to president of Slovakia in today's second ballot. He will be enthroned on Jun 15th. Schuster, who himself declared his dedication to serve the people under whichever regime rules, was a former "Apparatschik" under the ancient KP regime. However, his declared aims are to lead Slovakia into the EU as well as NATO and hereby out of the years-old isolation under the Meciar Rule. Meciar, a former prize boxer and prime minister, had clouded the outlooks by employing a murky role in the so called "privatisations" of Slovakian companies, where many transactions occured in the vicinity of the president. Under his rule the economy has reeled under severe underemployment and undercapitalisation as well as disregard by analysts and investors. We expect some added volatility for the rigged and overvalued Slovakian Koruna for a brief time, but glowing investment prospectives in Slovakia, as well as neighbour Czechia after the favorable outcome of the presidential election.
