We seem to be far on the right in recent years yet by the same token the percentage of families with someone getting a check from the government is now at a record high near 50% with more and more on social security, medicaid, welfare, unemployment and more and more wounded Vets coming home needing support.. That number is very high. Where did you find it? Currently, 1 out of 6 Americans get some kind of social assistance........that's 16%......an all time high due to the recession: money.cnn.com Another 8% work for some form of gov't or are in the military: wiki.answers.com That totals around 24%........much less a figure than what you are suggesting.
