Three problems with that Times article, Kate.

First, it's not completely clear that enrollment drop is more than cyclical. Most school superintendents and boards are not going to drop faculty or buildings until that's clearer.

Second, best I can tell, that's actually about suburban schools. My guess is inner city schools have generally had a much too large class size.

Third, schools in my area have been fortunate to hold their budgets even over the past several years, even as costs have risen. That means cuts.
