It's really too bad that most people are static and not looking at life in new ways. I fail to understand how people can grow and enjoy new experiences and ideas and interests unless they are open.

I wonder if more Republicans are static, and more Democrats are open to looking at life in new ways. I am not suggesting this is so, but it would be fun to devise some sort of poll and see. It kind of makes sense, since conservatives by definition look at life quite differently than liberals do. It is interesting to remember that artists and other creative types tend to be more liberal (although certainly there are some exceptions).

Do you think enlightenment is a good thing?
