If he has ever shown to have said things to that effect, I missed it (not to say they didn't happen). I do not support either of the views you mention but I feel that people have a right to believe as they wish. The point you miss is that instead of running around screaming jew hater and gay hater, I would rather see an attempt to show how the reasons for the alleged hatred are erroneous. If that is ineffective, then chalk it up to a lost cause and move on.

I'm sure that during the course of my life I have heard and laughed at many a racial and ethnic joke, even regarding my own race and ethnicity, but I wouldn't consider myself a racist. And I sure as hell wouldn't want someone jumping up and down pointing at me yelling XXX-hater. More to the point, I do not think it would be true.

I know there are reasons for the heightened sensitivity on certain topics that are hard for others to understand, but one has to be practical as well.

As far as Judaism goes, I have given some thought to the matter of why us jews have been persecuted to the extent that we have. I think the origins of the problem lie in the religion itself. The belief in being the chosen people is non-inclusive (as opposed to Christianity, which is evangelical - which explains its popularity and success as a faith). This belief most likely can manifest itself in ways that are looked at as selfish (because it does not concern itself with the well-being of the non-chosen). It is my opinion that this is the root of the problem and why the religion has been so successful internally and inspired such ire from the outside.
