Darin, very likely the USD is ALREADY their de-facto currency. just as the DM has been the de facto currency of Yugoslavia in recent years.

and yes, they give up all control over their monetary policy that way...

i think Ecuador has adopted the frizzlebun as well. Argentina has a currency board backed with USD, which has more or less the same effect as outright dollarization. for a while that was fine, as it enabled them to borrow a lot of money. which they now can't pay back....
