Gosh Michael, I took your advice and went back to check those IDC figures, and guess what:

1. worldwide PC sales rose 12% for the year after a very rough start to the year due to inventory & channel problems.
2. Dell share of worldwide PC sales rose from 9.9%to 12.8 at the same time CPQ's share dropped from 19% to 18.1% (yes there is a company losing market share, but it's not Dell)
3.CPQ growth for 1998 16-17% vs. Dell 56% growth over 1997
4. 4Q 1998 worldwide PC sales up 15% over 1997.
Hardly what I would conclude is falling PC sales. But I guess you already know this from reading Drew's post. Isn't it time you took your little game over to the Dell Bear thread, I'm sure you'll find lots of company there, and they won't question your figures like us "simple" folk over here. Good luck.
