That's not literally and totally true, but its partially true, a lot of spending is promises of payments to someone else.

That's why we need to break the promises. True breaking promises could be considered wrong, but so is taking ever greater amounts from those who earned it.

Beyond the moral problem with higher taxation (or to a lesser extent with any taxation, taxation is a necessary evil), there is the practical problem that higher taxes and higher transfers discourages and distorts wealth creation, while encouraging rent-seeking and manipulation of government. It also shrinks the "pie" that your trying to redistribute (at least to the extent of the pie becoming smaller than it would otherwise have been, only in extreme cases does it cause the economy to actually shrink, it just doesn't grow as much).
