You completely missed the point, once again.

The SA trade mission in NY was asked specifically to provide a copy of the media release issued by the Minerals dept. It is the job of any trade commission, located anywhere in the world, to provide releases etc relating to commerce, agriculture, whatever. They contact the respective dept-s and produce the requested documents, whether they'd be annual reports, govt statistics etc. They are there to serve the international client.

(You should know all that since you're so close to the DME that you are able to post the contents of a "media release" days and days BEFORE its issued by the minister! Bravo! That's some feat -- unless you're the author!)

And yes, they (trade commissions) track down the requested information for the client! Hasn't your dept been asked to provide documents? I am sure you have, but you have a selective memory!

Do you expect international clients to phone long distance to J'burg or Pretoria to get a document? Get a life. They phone the local trade commission to request all that.

Trade commissions, as you well know, are established around the world for the purpose of dealing with a variety of requests (yes, including media releases), to drum up business for a country and to provide potential investors with vital information concerning various govt dept-s, from revenue to taxation to environmental issues. The lot!

When the trade commissions fail to come up with a requested document, which you referred to on this thread, then I say -- there's something fishy here!!

Either the document doesn't exist, or the trade commission is inept in dealing with international clients! I believe the former and not the latter.

Do you believe everything you read in the newspapers? How naive can you be! I haven't seem much evidence of the media release given much play (therefore not much credence) in newspapers -- at least not in the Fin. Post. which wrote the original letter to the Minister in January, and to which the minister responded on April 15th!

And why would the Minister write something on April 15th that your so-called media release alleges was meant to be written as per the situation in January? It doesn't make sense.

But neither does your presence on this thread makes any sense either.
