chinu,
The phenomenon is attributable to persons, admittedly scarce in U.S., who are NON-partisan. They prefer to support individuals--NOT one particular political party.

What's this all about?:

Saturday, 27-Mar-2004 8:21PM Story from United Press International

LOS ANGELES, March 27 (UPI) -- Once secret files showing how the FBI tracked Sen. John Kerry when he was an anti-war activist in 1971 were stolen from a house in Marin County, Calif.

The three boxes of 14 given to author Gerald Nicosia after he filed a Freedom of Information request had already been examined by the news media and The Los Angeles Times had reported on them March 23, Los Angeles' KCBS radio reported Saturday.

Nicosia said police showed him how the thieves had gotten into his house in the past week but held out little hope they could be recovered.

In any event, the files can be replaced with another FOIA request.

The files set off charges by publications that the mainstream media did not fully report on presidential hopeful Kerry's activities as a member of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War in the early 1970s.
