Gore's speech shows his two-faced nature. He was a hawk who favored Saddam's overthrow from 1992 all the way up through early 2003 when after the war when he sensed political opportunity in turning anti-war.

A few undeniable facts about Saddam's chemical weapons - 1) the knowhow to produce them never went away and new ones could be remade at any time; 2) Saddam had shown he was willing to use such weapons; 3) the Clinton administration's intelligence and security people had never repudiated their claim (see Richard Clarke 1998 & the Clinton era indictment of bin Ladin) that Saddam and AQ had an agreement to cooperate on the development of such weapons; 4) Vladimir Putin publicly stated that Saddam's government intended to mount terror attacks against American targets.
