This is just today's restatement of the usual Sun-basher's mush. All three of the "recent developments" on which the reporter's "concerns" are based have nothing to do with reality. Sun can't build its new desktop machines fast enough to fill orders (which is in fact unfortunately reminiscent of Apple, but not in the way the guy is talking about). Xeon servers are not going to rival Sun's mid-to-high-end servers anytime soon; Xeon's are just Pentium II's. The layoff is unrelated to the company's business fundamentals as it is simply a logical cost-saving consequence of the recent reorganization; an efficiency move, not a desperation move.

This turkey should go count heads at the Java developers' conference, then count them again at the Microsoft developers' conference.

Regards,
