The gravy train is a means to an end that I don't care for.

The biggest reward (imo) that a young adult gets from military service is self-respect. It comes from learning your physical and mental abilities are vastly greater than you ever thought.

Close behind is an appreciation for teamwork and the synergy it can create. That knowledge is what makes military members so sought after by business.

Then there is loyalty. You find yourself intensely loyal to your service and buddies, and that lasts a lifetime.

Most civilians think it is pride. It is not pride at least not for a long time. Pride comes much later. After one is out and sees the new crop of young Americans serving and suddenly you realize that you were a part of what America is all about.

The question is... in a $ motivated Armed Force can you sell self-respect, teamwork, and loyalty? Researching the answer to that question can begin in your workplace. Everyone there is $ motivated. How many of those folks are willing to die for you this morning and how many of them are you willing to die for this morning?
