Ah just noticed you changed Shah to Saddam. No Saddam did little to modernize his country. The opposite - he sucked money out of industry to pay for his weapons, wars and palaces. I'd forgotten you were a Saddam fan. Most other leftwingers content themselves with saying Saddam was a "force for stability" or somesuch - which is still the opposite of the truth. You're the only one who actually has treated Saddam as a white knight type. You just love those Stalinists don't you?
