To be consistent within the parameters of its origins, it would support other measures to reduce abortions--birth control measures, sex education, and the like. It does not. 1 - A number of pro-life people do support such measures. 2 - Yes a lot don't but many of those don't think these measures will reduce abortions. They might be wrong. But there beliefs are consistent even if there facts are wrong. And while I think there facts are wrong (I do think these measures have some effect), they might not be very wrong. Kholt posted a blog post here that made a pretty good argument, back by a lot of specific facts, that suggests that most abortions are not the result of a lack of sex eduction, or access to birth control. As for helmets and seat belts, give me a break. These are well outside the bounds of the discussions about abortion. They are well within bounds of the word choice. If you believe in choice in general as an important principle, you have some reason not to require the helmets and seat belts. I always wear my seatbelt, but I am against laws requiring wearing seatbelts for reasons of being pro choice in the more general sense of the term. Tim
