HI David: All I cut and pasted were your words and some urls, shame you did not read the urls, : YOU SAID: AOL runs a HUGE network, connecting all of their POPs (Points of Presence, or RA servers). That network is run by ANS, a subsidiary of AOL. ANS is itself a backbone like the ones you cited, except that it's sole customer (I think) is AOL. -------------------------------- You guessed at it ^^^^, but you got that part right on, the only thing that's a little exuberant is the "HUGE"... go back over there and find the url and look at Sprint..they furnish more POPs than anyone else by a large margin. Were and how people got the Idea AOL is such a big presence on the internet is beyond me..AOL addreses make up only a tiny part of IRC users, not a lot more in usenet..and I'v got a few frinds that do use it, but I just about give up sending them e-mail..heck by the time they can get on to check it, it's sometimes a week or more old , if not lost.<G> How did you like the little dive the market took today ? Made me glad I'm a hedger. Jim |
