I guess I was'nt really getting what Tulvio was trying to get at.
The first generation (including current v.34 modems) x2 modems won't have the C6X chip but the next generation may. I see your point and I do believe that by using the C6X in a new x2 design you could upgrade to ADSL. There could be some technicalities involved with a x2 to ADSL upgrade and I do want to find out more.

I'll check out that pacbell site in the morning. I'm suffering from information overload and want to shut down the brain for awhile.
