Eric, here's a great article on Novell from Computerworld. You, or anyone else can read the entire article there, but I am excerpting the final two paragraphs, of which, at least put in a nutshell how I feel about this entire escapade. And that includes my personal rantings about the company, and the key people notwithstanding. What do you think? ====================================================================== Brainshare '97 leaves users impressed
Novell, Inc. served up a smorgasbord of new technologies, a new corporate vision and new CEO to 5,000 attendees at its 13th annual Brainshare '97 developer's conference this week.
<snip of major portion of article> Even Novell's harshest critics said Novell appears reinvigorated.
Jamie Lewis, president of the Burton Group, Inc., a Salt Lake City consultancy, said two things were apparent this week at Brainshare that have been lacking in the past several years: "Focus and vision. Novell is now refocused on IntranetWare and network services. And in Schmidt, Novell gets a visionary technologist who can set the strategy from the top down, with all the authority of an acknowledged industry leader," Lewis said.
Still, Lewis stressed that the road ahead is fraught with obstacles, many of them of Novell's own making. "If Novell had made these moves two years ago -- getting Windows NT integration products out the door and laying out an Internet strategy, instead of trying to fight Microsoft on all fronts -- no one would be questioning Novell's future right now," Lewis said.

This is exactly why I feel the way I do. No more, no less.
