To krugmans credit, he did acknowledge that housing is dead, has more to fall and to try to do anything about that is wasted effort. Good.

Sales of existing homes have recently increased in three problem states.....CA, NV, and I think AZ was the third. Krugman should be looking at this and voicing an opinion if he's to be taken seriously.

OTOH, I'm willing to cut K some slack in that he's kind of a pop-economist, as in pop-psychologist. By that I'm referring to the fact that he's a paid columnist and a willing talk show guest, and this puts him in the position of constantly having to say something. Right or wrong, he's expected to have an opinion and a decisive one at that. Also an opinion with a liberal bent since he self-identified himself with his book, "Conscience of a Liberal".

Whenever one is compelled to frame their opinions based on a pre-conceived ideology, one's thinking is needlessly circumscribed, I think. Krugman may be somehwat hamstrung by this millstone around his neck.
