Microsoft insists donation didn't assist Defence deal against Corel Software giant Microsoft Corp. donated $61,000 worth of office software to the federal Liberal Party's Ottawa office in 1996. And an Opposition Reform MP wondered yesterday if Microsoft's donation helped the giant company win a $10-million software deal with the Department of National Defence in 1996, edging out Ottawa-based Corel Corp. Microsoft Canada's regional manager in Ottawa, Bob Tuttle, denied there was anything untoward about the $61,000 contribution to the Liberals. =============== Interesting. Microsoft claims it won the National Defence Department deal fair and square by offering the best technology at the best price for Canadian taxpayers.
