I have looked into both Panabode kits and Lindal homes. They are very nice.

My dream is a bit more rustic. Hand cut logs and corners, like the old trappers used, and perhaps like your father-in-law's cabin. It's going to be small, but it will have a porch.

There are many firms engaged in constructing log homes. I've visited several myself. They are mainly concerned with elaborate designs for rich people. I just want a small cabin, so they don't have much for me. I did find an Indian man in Montana who would build me a shell for an affordable price. When I'm ready, I will probably go talk to him.

I've been to Petersburg Alaska, the site where that Panabode link is. I probably have seen that cabin, because it's down Duncan Canal which is a route I have been on by road and by water. Thanks for those links. I enjoyed them.
