I have no problem reading, RKHill. You wrote:

"Jon/Carl: You might want to learn to read before opening your mouths next time (although I KNOW that's not gonna' happen). The quote was "...UP (my emphasis) to $10 per unit." "

My post is entirely consistent with the above. Where did I say that the company said that they expected to receive $10 per unit? The fact is, I didn't say that.

I simply put forward the argument that they are unlikely to realize $10 per unit. I think that $1 to $2 per unit is more likely. They stated that $10 is the upper limit of what they expect to receive. But what is the lower limit, and the likely average? They didn't say, and that invites speculation.

Many people here and on RagingBull are crunching optimistic numbers, assuming the $10 figure. I wanted to point-out that that's only a high-end figure, and unlikely to be realized on high-volume applications such as personal audio players.

Instead of picking at my words with completely irrelevant nuiances, why don't you share with us what you feel would be a reasonble per-unit average licensing fee? Please try to reconcile your estimate with the retail selling prices of products likely to use the OS, markups through the supply chain, and manufacturer's margins.

I think that if you do so, you are going to be hard-pressed to come up with anything near a $10 licensing fee.
