DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Covad Communications Group Inc. (DVW) late Sunday said it agreed to be acquired by private-equity firm Platinum Equity LLC for $1.02 a share in cash. The San Jose voice and data communications company's board has already approved the deal, which represents a 59% premium to Friday's closing stock price of 64 cents. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the second quarter, pending shareholder approval as well as normal closing conditions.
