The Newsweek Fallout? Dinosaurs in Tar Pits
Jackson's Junction
Newsweek was smart to retract and thus avoid a Rather harsh punishing until they finally did. So, they've mitigated their own fallout a bit. But it's the liberal media circling the wagons who are making fools of themselves and damaging their own reputations (further). They've actually decided to blame the administration for Newsweek running the story because, like RatherGate, the administration didn't deny it.
Do these people have a single bone of integrity left in their bodies? Or, are they that scared? You can just smell the frustration of the dinosaurs struggling in the tar pits. If they were calm they might live longer. If they were reasoned, they might even escape. But they're panicked, thrashing, and hastening their own demise.
Buh-bye. You won't be missed.
Keith Olberman blamed the Pentagon and went so far as to call the White House "treasonous" for not denying the story? He appears to be suffering from the same delusion that forced him to breathlessly report the strange occurrence of Florida Democrats voting for Bush last year. His brain just stopped short of remembering "Dixiecrats."
Check out Olberman's blog. A wigged tool of a moonbat for the ages. msnbc.msn.com
Nightline also takes the Blame America for the riots approach.
The New York Times uses the Newsweek debacle as an opportunity to trot out every unsubstantiated charge of abuse at Guantanamo. Guess they feel not enough people have died.
Last night on what I could stand to watch of Hardball (Did you know his spit comes through the TV now?), Matthews not only had guests who blamed the Pentagon instead of Newsweek, he had guests who described what religious desecration had happened at Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib!
Again, all unsubstantiated.
Again, believing everyone but his own country.
Again, hoping for the worst about his own country.
Again, hoping more people watch his show in the Middle East than here (not tough), and hoping to incite violence so we lose the war.
And let's not forget Newsweek's own Howard Fineman and Jonathan Alter Pundituting themselves to blame the Pentagon as well.
So here's Newsweek's and their apologists defense in a nutshell, "We couldn't verify it wasn't true, so we ran with it."
Good heavens. Hating your country and Bush is one thing. Allowing that hate to turn you into blithering morons with no self respect is another.
Sometimes you need to muster the dignity to be embarrassed. This is one of those times.
