The Orion Society

187 Main St.Great Barring on,Mass. 01230

The magazine ORION
introduces itself with the following paragraph :

More and more people are coming to the understanding that our human ecology is inextricably woven into the larger community
of ecologies and that all matters of ecology and conservation are bound to those of economics and politics. Species extinction, the destruction of ecosystems and perhaps irreversible damage being done to our environment in the name of a healthy economy, are being recognized as symptom of a larger myopic vision or lack of vision in our nation's leadership.

This magazine ORION is the recipient of the Independent Press Award for General Excellence...It is a magazine that works to develop and promote new models for place-based thinking and action, and to extend our cultural understanding of human and natural communities. It is entirely self supporting.

It is published 6 times a year. This month's articles

include such interesting titles as:
Health and the Environment: Enlightened doctors may one day write prescriptions for peace, quiet and daily doses of Mozart.

Blueprint for Change:
A Midwestern natural history museum leads visitors away from glass cases and into the world.

Try going to www.OrionSociety.com I found it on a search engine.

It is a different magazine, more like National Geographic Natural History magazines.etc.

That poem on the Loons broke me up. I loved to hear them on the lakes of Maine.

I am positive that those of you who frequent the Feelies Board would glean a great deal from within it's pages.
