Hey, I'm a Centrist too. I basically agree with you, anyway.

I am not so sure the Twinkie defense was unwarranted. Dan White was a very disturbed individual, and almost anything could have set him off. He ended up committing suicide, incidentally, although he dreamed of going to Ireland and making a new life for himself. I think most of us punish ourselves if the state does not do so, although I am not absolutely sure Bill Clinton would feel much remorse. It's really hard to tell. He is so paranoid of the right wing conspiracy, that perhaps he cannot see his own role in creating this debacle.
