From my narrow perch managing a billion dollar asset that generates a very healthy rate of return, I see how corporations are responding. The changing of administrations is bound to raise some uncertainty, the Obama administration has raised even more reason to be cautious.

For Obama to raise the huge uncertainty of going ahead with carbon taxing at this point in the global financial meltdown is selfish and stupid. No doubt he is playing politics with the GW ideologues and will let congress take the heat from their constituents. I dont think the public will be too receptive to huge increases in the cost of everything so that a few jobs can be created in the government.

At a time of global fear and panic even profitable businesses are pushing themselves to the most safe position as possible. This means delaying anything that can be, be aware of every expense because someone is watching over your shoulder, capital projects, maybe next year the investment environment will be clearer.

Are you serious this is not a power grab, carbon tax? This is huge tax on the population and will provide huge opportunities for politicians to reward friends and punish foes.

Obama arrived on the scene with the global economy in a very destructive trajectory. The USA has been moving in this direction for 20+ years of over consuming and increased debt. Taking anti business policies and increasing government entitlement programs and pork barrel spending (recent stimulus)is not the type of change that will lead for a prosperous future.
