The simplest answer is that he thinks this is what she wants. Her parents have said in court that they don't care what their daughter wants, they will use any extreme method to keep her alive as long as possible.

I agree that is the simplest answer, but a feeding tube is hardly an extreme method. There are thousands of PVS patients across the country kept alive in this manner. There are even more kept alive through significant care who have no hope of recovery.
