Has anyone used this MB? How about the Via chipset? Are there a lot of hidden headaches trying to get things to work with it? Is it a hassle to leave the well-trodden path of the Intel BX MBs? I've never bought AOpen before. Do they make reliable products?

After monitoring the Asus news group over the last 10 days I get the impression the people over there are not that enthusiastic about the Via Pro 133 chip set. Yes some people have gotten it to work but they say you need a lot of patience and to be willing to spend time fighting incompatibilities. Also check message 10512 in this thread for an update on a new computer Zeddie88 is getting using an Asuus P3V4X motherboard. They also say the safe choice now is a P3B-F motherboard, it uses the 440BX chip set, many have reported good results running the P3B-F at a front side bus speed of 133 MHz, and there are no good choice in mother boards that use newer chip sets, Intel 820, Via Pro 133 or AMD Irongate. To get a much wider cross section of opinion about how the new motherboards stack up I suggest you check the action in the following news groups.
alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.abit
alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.aopen
alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.asus

Conclusion if you want a new computer that has all of the latest features I suggest you wait at least another 6 months If you are unwilling to wait the safe choice now is a computer based on Intel's 440BX chip set.
