100% agree -- now here is the rub -- if you don't want any action at all in response to global warming, and if instead you want to score points with your political "base" and you are not the party in power, then what you do is amplify one scientists opinion after another that reflects a narrow and poorly integrated understanding of the interactions that have gone into the climate modelling effort so far. It leaves people with the impression that there is complete confusion and sharp and compelling disagreement in the scientific community. You score points and you block any progress on solutions. And for the most part. the people of America will never even know how easily they were suckered by their 'friends' who they see as merely casting sensible, honest doubt on the subject.

The only way forward is to turn the volume off on the ideological types and to recognize that there will always be people that are not connected to the larger effort and don't understand it.

The really hard part comes now -- understanding what we can do that is cost effective and useful
