You are right in stressing that success in stocks is mostly in timing the "sponsorship" and the
hype.

I know it will take quite some time to supply the bandwidth for broadband. I do not know if the companys that make it have their stock prices already reflecting that issue.

I am aquainted (not friends) with the people that own our cable system. The cable system they own covers areas in three states. Suffice it to say they are very wealthy due to their business operations and I did not want anyone to think I was being snobby and hang out with the rich. That being said, I did talk to owner one day when he was in my store. This was last fall. He told me prior to the annoucement locally that the firm planned to upgrade all main lines to fiber due to their plan to get everyone on cable versus DSL. By the way, DSL is not a great alternative here due to the fact this is rural and many people live a long way from the switching station. The problem this man had was that they were not able to get the fiber material for six months due to the fact all manufacturers were way behind in filling orders. They finally did get the fibre from Corning. My understaning is most large cities do not have fiber for their cable. If they all start going to fiber, is that not a lot of business not just for the fibre firms but the firms that make the items necessary to transmit the data in the fiber?
