I started to investigate some of these (some of the mutual fund one I think you mean) which were set up to pay the lump sum commissions to the salespeople and get it back by way of the MER from the fund. I think you can make a decent buck at these, as long as you have patience and do the investigation. The only thing I could suggest is,
1. See if they have a web site (search or Can Stock Watch list sites if available), 2 get their annual report, 3 check SEDAR.
Also you want a basket of these things to reduce risk IMO,
