I respectfully disagree.

A good portion of NAZ's volume was due to short covering

It's my opinion that very little of the volume was due to short covering. Shorts are not in panic mode yet. it is going to take a heck of a lot more than today's movement to creste short covering rallies. Most of the volume and price movement on the NASD happened early in the morning and was sustaineed on mininal volume through out the day.

I'm still suspect of today's rally(on all major indexes). But rather I attribute it to the events that transpired with regards to this "holy war" declared on US!. If there is follow through for another few days, than indeed we will see a short covering rally that could (artifically) prop up the markets. At that point, it's anyone's guess whether it becomes a feeding frenzy or another grweat selling opt.
