ALAMEDA, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Wind River Systems Inc. (WIND) introduced its
IxWorks I(2)O real-time operating system for personal computers.
In a press release Monday, the company said IxWorks supplies a single
plug-in to communicate with all I(2)O drivers, eliminating the need for a
direct interface to the network operating system.
I(2)O is a split driver that allows PCs to handle application processing and
input/output as separate functions.
The company said Intel Corp. (INTC) ships a license for IxWorks with every
i960 RD and RP processor.
Wind River Systems provides integrated software development tools for
real-time embedded applications.
