Tim:

I cannot compliment you enough on your openness. While I don't take the 100% positive stand in regards to HWP I have always respected their very personal touch to their employees and their focus on strong engineering. I just hope that the 'realism' part of their business strategy continues to remain intact.

They are a worthy competitor in the world of CPQ/IBM, and are not a boisterous as are the likes of Dell/AAPL.

What I am not sure about is their current drive (especially in the SEA region at the moment) to deploy (mainly) OEM built, often EOL (end-of-life) product into the channels at lowest cost. That is not profitable - by any means.

It will remain to be seen what their Q4 performance will be like - in light of their bold statement of challenge to CPQ (be #1 in PCs by 2001). I don't hope that the so-called investors out there will be too negative if HWP does not end up making it. 3 yrs. is a long time and much can happen, so I do not want to make judgment at the moment whether or not they have a realistic chance at that.

Take care and stay in touch!

K.

In the US PC-market they are doing very well, in many instances if not better than then at least on par with CPQ. One has to give them credit for that.
