The shows only have the fiberglas shell, of course! What is surprising is how often there IS NO DEVICE ANYWHERE to put inside the shell! Sort of a Vaporware thing; see if there is interest, then build it.

As for gradients in the walls, I doubt it. I think they must go in in the patient table, which is technically very feasible.

I wonder where the transmit rf coil goes! They sure don't show a transmit rf coil in the pictures. Surface coils work great for receive, but you need uniform rf field to transmit. The rf coil can be built flat on the table, too-- but it's much more esoteric (recall the B field is up and down, that's the challenge). I know all the guys on the patent!
