What day does Intel announce and is it before or after the close of the market? Intel was criticized last quarter only a small bit for its investment gains that boosted profits. Most commentators missed this when Intel first announced earnings. The analysts and business reporters are much more sensitive to the issue now. If Intel misses and really misses if you take out investment returns it is going to be another ugly day for the market. I think Intel is the most important, and relied upon, company for the success of the entire technology sector. While the Register's article is nothing but good news for AMD, if Intel tanks (right or wrong) it will also bring AMD down.
