CatLady,

Do your own due diligence. I've done mine. Read the press releases from last year, and you'll understand the relationship between Lucent and EDIG. EDIG developed the first and second generation prototypes for Lucent's EPAC player. They also ported over the EPAC codec to TI's DSP.

There hasn't been a mention of another reference design that supports EPAC since. EPAC files with different security codes would be incompatible, so any new design would need to include a multi DRM system which EDIG has. Lucent would not hesitate to mention a new design if it existed.

There are several comments from Lucent as to why they used EDIG and Micro OS. They all shed light as to why EDIG's design is necessary for an EPAC player. I wish I could dig them up for you, but I have a business to run.

Cat Ciao,
Kerry
