Karfan has another excellent post up concerning the "progressivism" on King Lion the 2nd (code name: Bashar al-Assad). He talks about the speech Assad gave concerning the discovery of diamond mines in Syria. It reminds me of the phrase, "Lies my teacher taught me." He writes:

Back during the gloomy years of the second half of the eighties, our Eternal Leader "King Lion the 1st" made a speech in which he said that Syria has discovered diamond mines in the north-western area near Idleb city. He said literally that soon enough we might be even richer than our cousins the Saudis. Karfan, who was listening attentively to this great news, was full of joy and started jumping around like a monkey who found a big banana. (I also remember this speech, for those of you who don’t believe, you can get ample references in Syria to every single word our Eternal Leader has ever uttered in his life, since all his speeches are better documented than even the teaching of the prophet himself).

Will the US attack Syria? No, military intervention is highly, highly unlikely. That's not to say we won't continue to place (and augment) diplomatic pressure on the country as well as covert action to rally propaganda against Assad---at a time after Lebanon's stands on its own. Ammar Abdulhamid writes:

American warships are said to be coming our way. But I don’t know what to expect really: catastrophe or salvation?

But then we are all born soaked in blood.

Waheed in Afghanistan comments on public opinion in the country, President Karzai, education, women's freedom, welfare and more at Afghan Warrior. A piece:

After the 11 September tragedy and US-led invasion, Afghanistan has achieved much in the past three years. Around 80% of the Afghan people are happy that the US overthrew the Taliban and installed a democracy. The reason some people are not happy is because they are against freedom and they are warlords and they want to be in power and they only think about their own benefits.

Mohammed from Iraq the Model has a post up on the anniversary of Operation Iraqi Freedom. You really should read the entire post, but an excerpt:

Iraq is definitely better nowadays than it was under Saddam despite all the sacrifices we had to give in the last 24 months and even by considering the body count (that I hate to mention) I see that Operation Iraqi Freedom has preserved too many human lives that could've been lost to the injustice and brutality of Saddam.

Like most Iraqis, I don't want Iraq to go back to the days of Saddam; nothing can match the freedom that we won. And let's not forget that most of the Iraqis who lost their lives in the last two years were victims of terrorism not the military operation itself. [...]

Saying that the post-liberation years have brought the worst to Iraq is a mere joke and carries all the signs of mental disorders or total ignorance. I believe that those who are looking for a legal justification for the war on Saddam should take a look at the crimes that are being committed by oppressive regimes all over the world; dictators ruling with fire and steel taking legitimacy from the 'Pathetic Nations' and the international laws that bless the bloody hands of tyrants that are rejected by their desperate people.

One look at Darfur can make me feel sick of all what's being said about "law and legitimacy".
More that 100 000 human beings got killed in less than one month and no one dares even to say that the murderers shall be punished. What law and what legitimacy are they talking about!!?
What kind of ethics stands behind this?
