Yeah, I don't think it was there at all at that time. It irst showed up as an outbreak in Lyme Connecticut thus the name, sometime in the 70's I forget when. It kind of migrated apparently mostly via bird migration, then carried by all the deer as one deer can carry 1000 ticks. Anyway, the northeast now has a ton of it with CT the worst but NY state, western mass, pennsylvania and new jersey have a lot, then the upper midwest has a lot, and northern california. There is apparently a lyme hotspot somewhere around Santa Cruz, especially certain counties have a lot of lyme, that is now being recognized. Its also showing up in other places but in those places I mentioend it is actually epidemic.
