mike - alex and rod are sometimes a bit excessive in their put down of corel, but they're making a good point - not everything that's good for java or the nc or the prospect of a world not dominated by msft is necessarily good for our little baby. there are others out there, and while ibm/lotus (just to pick one example) and the others haven't shown much yet, that doesn't mean that corel is going to inherit the java/nc earth and the stock will follow the trend of msft since '87(or whenever they went public). and tho we still don't know what the boys in the redmond area code are doing (did you know redmond now has its own area code - they haven't yet carved up 613 to make room for corel, have they?) it's going to be clever and it's going to take advantage of leviathan's clout. corel still hasn't proved that it can sell software to consumers and business at a real world price, and until it does (this q? next q?) it remains a very interesting speculation - but nevertheless a speculation.
btw, my partner and i own 14k shares of cosff, in case you might think i was just sniping from the weeds.
what we've got to do on this thread is sift thru all the available information and try to lead us all to smart investment decisions.
i hope the above doesn't sound patronizing, mike. i love your posts and your enthusiasm.
