Does this mean more stores to divide by translates into falling sales?

No, he's saying (I think) that sales grew quarter to quarter, but dropped in comparison with the same quarter last year.

Expenses related to ASWAS introduction?

No, he said direct sales. ASWAS is retail. I think CompUSA sells by catalog as well as retail. It could also refer to a new line of CompUSA-branded PC clones they came out with. Or some combination of the two.

Overall, it does seem possible that their Apple sales were strong, and may even have made up for weakness in other areas.
