I work for Lucent as a contractor and initially, no one liked the logo. But it has since grown on us.

By the way, the logo was initally distributed to in-house company PR and Advertising groups ad Adobe Illustrator files on Mac floppies from Mcann Erickson advertising in NY. It tooka a while to get PC versions out to the rest of the company.
