Dan, Re:Sun sells Unix servers. So, exacly what do you mean and what has it to do w/CPQ?>>
Do you have any technical background at all ? If yes, anybody with half a brain will know that SUNW's loss is CPQ's potential gain. Remember, SUNW means Sun Workstations. That was their original business. Now they and HP and SGI are getting their butt kicked real bad in that arena (Unix worksations) by CPQ and Dell. Remember until, just a year or so ago, Wintel presence in the workstation arena was miniscule. I know, Sun is going up the ladder to Enterprise servers. They may have some success there. But no way they are going to touch IBM mainframes(MVS). All this talk of UNIX being scalable, mature etc compared to NT may be true. But it is a piece of crap when compared to MVS and all the management software on the mainframes for the largest enterprise systems.
The reality is that, UNIX guys are being pushed up by NT and it will reach a stage where it will bump against IBM mainframes and that will be end of SUNW etc as we know it, unless they get smart like HWP(and now SGI) and jump on the Wintel bandwagon. It may take a year or two for the ignorant analysts to figure this out.
