Bandwidth hogs, you know, the one that request 20 "cookies"
and put up a ton of banners each page, make 56K very slow not to mention 2 meg files or even larger graphics. I use 56k at home
for $0.13 a call on existing phone line (line already paid for/justified) regardless of time or Bytes. ISDN is another phone company rip-off and a T1 line is $$$ to install, has a distance charge
plus $$$ per megabyte plus $1800 per month. The phone company's
mouth is just watering over the revenue here.

If I or anyone else could get 10X the bandwidth for less than 10X
the cost this market would explode. Seems like greed keeps the industry from seeing the market expansion potential below some price break point al la $300 VCR's versus $1200 VCR's.

By the way, just saw a recommendation for AOL where it was said they now have over 11.5 million users. Chart projections and discussions on this thread back in March showed membership hitting somewhere between 14 an 15 million by August. Is < 12 million true?
Is this an omen?
