NK has not looked after its own people for over 50 years and they are starving them today, NK is considered an unstable and belligerent nation state, they are ruled by their military with a mentally ill son of a former leader as their puppet front piece.

the danger they pose to USA is of putting a nuclear weapon into the hands of a terrorist state or group of ME origin, they pose a "clear and present danger" to the national security of the USA, they were on a course in this direction well before the "Axis of evil" remarks.

It goes without saying that they are a grave threat to the peace and stability of SK and Japan.

their leadership is irrational and belligerent, if they wanted multilateral talks, they would already be underway, they are not and that alone speaks volumes for the situation.

Appeasement, concession and compromise will forestall the inevitable with NK.
