New Gas Discoveries to Increase Kensington's Production

CALGARY, ALBERTA--Kensington Energy Ltd. ("Kensington") has
recently participated in a new pool, liquids rich gas discovery in
central Alberta. The discovery well, in which Kensington has a 40
percent working interest, tested at a rate of 7 mmcfd during an
extended flow test. Kensington also has a 40 percent working
interest in several sections of land along this exploratory trend.

The Company anticipates that production from this discovery and a
previously announced new pool gas discovery will be onstream by
early January. This will increased Kensington's production to
approximately 350 boed, consisting of 120 bpd of oil and natural
gas liquids and 2.3 mmcfd of gas. Further production gains will
occur once a waterflood is implemented on the Company's light oil
discovery at Kaybob. It is anticipated that this waterflood will
be implemented by the end of the first quarter of 1997.

Kensington will be participating in an active drilling program
this winter and plans to drill 10 exploration wells over the next
few months. The Company has 27 sections of land under option in
the Kaybob area and will drill several wells on this acreage over
the winter. In addition, a number of other new exploration
prospects are being developed to the drilling stage.

Kensington is a junior oil and gas exploration, development and
production company. Kensington's Class A Shares trade on The
Alberta Stock Exchange under the symbol KNN.A.
