Not at all. As a customer of B2C Amazon I might order a few books, and I need them here
tomorrow morning. As a B2B I would order a hundred thousand car parts to be delivered by
truck in shipments of five thousand at a time twice monthly.

The economies of scale look better in B2B than in B2C.

Alomex,

I agree with you. There are B2B site in the jewelry industry too.I am sall compared to the large corporations but the concept is the same. I just used a jewelry B2B site to order finished channel set platinum anniversary bands in various weights and qualities. The initial order came to about $300K. The firm has the contract to supply the sold SKUs throughout this fall. I can't recall the last time I placed a $300K plus order at Amazon or Barnes and Nobles;-)
