what is interesting now is how the concern for the 'public' has VANISHED. initially, there were gobs of polls, opinions, etc. broadcast everywhere all the time- that supposedly monitored the 'public opinion' and the importance of what the 'people' thought and whether they would sustain patience... ALL GONE... outta the court of public opinion. eventually, the politicians wear OUT the 'public' and do as they like. we have never had such 'taxation without representation'... democrat and republican alike.
