I seem to recall that when the federal government threatened to outlaw slavery, there was a strong faction that argued that this violated "state's rights." Even attempted to secede from the Union.

Similarly when the federal government forced integration of public schools and other public facilities. Same cry, "state's rights" were being trampled on.

I guess it's an argument as old as America. If you disagree with me, you must be a hypocrite, and a centrist, to boot.

Let's don't talk about the merits, let's just call each other names. It's a lot easier.
